In 2009 the Economic and Social ResearchCouncil (ESRC) launched a co-funded programme ofresearch into ‘Multiple Exclusion Homelessness’.The aim of the programme was to help informnational and local policy and practice when tacklinghomelessness across the United Kingdom (UK). As part of this programme researchers at theUniversities of Salford and Lincoln, along with thesupport of an advisory group, were commissioned toundertake a two-year study focused onunderstanding the lives of people with experience ofhomelessness and/or multiple exclusion, in whateverform that took, within the city of Stoke-on-Trent
