As a follow-up to the author’s recent thoughts on ‘understanding the nursing process’ (Stonehouse, 2017), this article examines thetwo complementary models of Roper, Logan and Tierney (1980): their model of living and model of nursing. The different components which make up the two models will be explored and related to clinical practice. It is important for support workers tounderstand both models and how they are being used within their clinical environment.
