To prevent the occurrence of such instabilities it is essential to choose optimal process parameters. An exact knowledge of the stability limits offers the possibility to determine those parameters and use potentials to increase the productivity, which otherwise would be idle. The identification of the stability limit and its graphical presentation in the stability lobes diagram is normally achieved via time- and material-consuming tests.
