In recent years, technical cleanliness has developed into one important quality variable in automobile construction which is also becoming extremely relevant to components made of plastic to an increasing degree. The article describes the background to the subject matter and examines the testing of this quality variable as well as its peculiarities, compared with other technical characteristics. One main focal point relates to the amendments which have resulted from the revision of the applicable "VDA 19" set of rules here.
