The invention relates to a method for producing polymer films (1) or plate-shaped elements from polymer. Particles of a material which differs from the polymer material are embedded into the polymer material, from which the film (1) or a plate-shaped element is made. Particles are applied onto a surface of a tool (3, 4) which exerts a compressive force onto a polymer film (1), at least the surface of which can be plastically deformed, or a plate-shaped element or onto a surface of a support (2), which is provided between the respective polymer film (1) or plate-shaped element surface which is to be provided with particles and a tool (3, 4) that exerts a compressive force onto the polymer film (1) or plate-shaped element. The surface which is coated with the particles is then brought into contact with the surface of the polymer film (1) or the plate-shaped element, or particles are applied directly onto a surface of a polymer film (1), at least the surface of which can be plastically deformed, or a plate-shaped element. The polymer material penetrates into pores or intermediate spaces between the particles applied onto a surface of the tool (3, 4) or the support (2) or the polymer film (1) or the plate-shaped element as a result of the acting compressive force.
