[Transcription begins]MEDICAL DETACHMENTMITCHEL FIELD, NEW YORK December 4, 1943 Bryant Service ClubBryant CollegeProvidence, Rhode Island Dear Friends: Yesterday I received the cigaretts [sic] which the Students at Bryant College so generously sent to me, and I want to thank them all very much. I only wish I could thank them all personally, but at present that is quite impossible. Maybe some day soon I will be able to do just that. I am going to make this just a thank you letter because I know that whatever I might say could not possibly compare in interest to the letters which you much receive from the boys over there.
