In a descriptive research project the „status quo“ of the use of ETICS with regard to the use of biocides against biological growth was investigated within the German speaking area. With the overall aim of improving environmental protection and sustainability, the project was intended to provide basic information to prevent the flat-rate use of biocides and identify casespecific solutions. A positive discussion about ETICS should be encouraged. By identifying locations and operating conditions which do not demand biocides against biological growth, the study is meant to provide a base to develop a decision-making tool for use biocide products for façades.
