The research presented in this thesis provides thermodynamic insights on the potential advantages and challenges of adding a solar thermal collection component into ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) power plants. In that regard, the article reports the off-design performance analysis of a closed-cycle OTEC system when a solar thermal collector is integrated as an add-on preheater or superheater into the system. The present research aims to examine the system-level effects of integrating solar thermal collection with an existing OTEC power plant in terms of power output and efficiency.
