Black Lavender‏ 2 Exhibit and Talk 2009

Funded by the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, this event opened the annual GLBTQ Symposium in 2009 at URI. This post contains the press release and flyer for the event. Black Lavender‏ 2 Exhibit and Talk 2009; Black Gay Men in Rhode Island to be Profiled in Exciting Exhibit and Talk February 9, 200: Providence - Gay African American men in Rhode Island will be given center stage at a landmark event at the University of Rhode Island. An exhibit, entitled “Black Lavender 2”, will depict Black gay leaders, artists, activists, authors and everyday men, and will be held at the University of Rhode Island Library in Kingston on Monday, March 30 at 5:30pm. Dr. Daniel Scott, professor of English at Rhode Island College, will discuss his findings in a series of interviews he conducted with Black gay men throughout the state, detailing their accomplishments and hardships living in the state. The event, the first of its kind in the nation, will be followed by; Funded by the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, the event opens the annual GLBTQ Symposium at URI.
