This study investigated the pattern of emotional competence skills found in children with Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and their parents. Forty-one ADHD children and 29 non-ADHD comparison children ages 7 to 14 participated with at least one of each child\u27s parents. Parents and children completed measures designed to assess their expression, appraisal, and regulation of emotion. In addition, parents completed measures of psychopathology for both themselves and their children. Children with ADHD were expected to be worse than comparison children at identification and regulation of emotions in themselves and in others. Parents of children with ADHD were hypothesized to show a pattern of results similar to their children....
