PROTECTING AND SAVING OLDER ADULTS IN DISASTERS: PREPAREDNESS, EVACUATION, AND AFTERMATH This thesis is an analysis of issues that affect older adults before, during, and after disasters, and produces recommendations that can be beneficial in protecting this population. An interdisciplinary approach that coordinates emergency managers, health care providers, public and private disaster relief agencies, and government policy is essential in addressing the complex problems that face older adults in disasters.
