Patients with this syndromesuffer from severe alterations in both the quality and quantity of saliva and tears, due to impaired function of the relevant exocrine glands. Prevalent symptoms experienced by SS-patients include a persistent drymouth sensation (xerostomia) and dry eyes (keratoconjunctivitis sicca).
