The nucleation and growth of Zn on glassy C from a zincate soln., 6M KOH + 0.25M K2Zn(OH)4, were studied. Interaction effects between the electrode surface and deposited Zn were detd. with voltammetric techniques. Current transients during growth at several potentials were compared with those predicted by nucleation and growth models. These expts. showed that deposition occurs via instantaneous nucleation following a 3-dimensional hemispherical growth model.
