Simple Summary The choice of lipid emulsions (LEs) used in parenteral nutrition (PN) is based on fatty acid composition and phytosterol content. Phytosterols are believed to be detrimental in patients receiving PN. Data from this observational study suggest that the adverse effect of phytosterols delivered to home PN patients is mitigated by long-chain omega-3 fatty acids.
