This dissertation was prepared using the Intervention Mapping approach. The general aim was to develop a comprehensive intervention that aids in enhancing the prevention and early detection of oral cancer (OC) in Jazan region of Saudi. Upon analyzing the possible contributing factors to the late diagnosis of OC in Jazan, an underlying behavior that usually remains overlooked when addressing OC issues came to light: dentists’ behavior regarding OC. The health approach, which solely attributes the responsibility for OC to the patient, has made many dental researchers miss dentists’ accountability for the problem, which is embodied in the dentists’ passive behavior toward OC examination practices, patient education and counseling.
