With incidents of type 2 diabetes (T2D) on the rise, more research is needed on possible prevention and treatment strategies. The PREVIEW study described in this dissertation is a large-scale, multi-centre study that compared the effects of different lifestyle interventions on the development of diabetes. It also examined the specific effects on fatty liver and brain activity. The PREVIEW intervention helped to reduce both body weight and insulin resistance and resulted in lower fatty liver levels and greater portion control. As a result, it can be concluded that fatty liver and portion control improvements are associated with increased protein intake
