Medical oncologists are internists specializing in the care of the adult cancer patient. They frequently function as a primary care physician for patients with cancer. This chapter in Cancer Concepts: A Guidebook for the Non-Oncologist will review the practice of medical oncology and some general principles followed in the use of chemotherapy.
