Introduction: Staphylococcus aureus infections cause significant morbidity and mortality in children and adolescents. There is limited data on the characteristics of S. aureus infections requiring hospitalization in childhood. Aim of this study was to investigate the molecular epidemiology and antibiotic resistance of S. aureus clinical isolates from children and adolescents.Methodology: This cohort study included all S. aureus isolates recovered from children and adolescents younger than 18 years who were admitted to the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete from 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2018.
