Consequently, cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDEs), the enzymes that inactivate the cyclic nucleotides, are promising targets for the development of cognition-enhancing drugs.Areas coveredPDE4 is the largest of the 11 mammalian PDE families.
