Depression is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide and is a major contributor to the global burden of disease among older adults. The study aimed to investigate the interplay between socio-economic markers (education and financial resources) and polygenic predisposition influencing individual differences in depressive symptoms and their change over time in older adults, which is of central relevance for preventative strategies.
