The human microbial metagenome is diverse and contributes uniquely to human health. A wealth of evidence indicates that imbalances in microbial composition are implicated in numerous diseases including IBD. Diet is intrinsically linked to the health status of an individual. However, until recently, the link between diet, human health, and microbiome health was not automatically apparent. In this review, we discuss the evidence for nutritional manipulation of the gut microbiota in the context of IBD; we also discuss the evidence for dietary and enteral interventions.</p
