The Metropolitan Cathedral is a mix of Renaissance, Baroque, and Neoclassical architectural design. The cathedral\u27s construction was initiated by Claudio de Arciniega in 1573, and continued for another 250 years by various architects. The layout of the building itself is Classical, and the more decorative external and internal features are Baroque. The main altar in the cathedral is called the Altar of the Kings and was built by Jerónimo de Balbás in 1718-1737.https://digitalcommons.ric.edu/smolski_images/2114/thumbnail.jp
