International audienceLearning to read In this article, we discuss two separate, but related topics. First, we briefly describe the processes used to encode speech sounds and meaning in written French. These processes include grapheme-phoneme correspondences, the clustering of phonemes to form syllables, lexicon building, word formation processes, and word organization to form sentences and passages of text. Then, we refer to the "simple model of reading" to describe the fundamental skills that underly reading comprehension in primary school, mainly visual word identification and oral comprehension.Dans cet article, nous traitons de deux sujets distincts, mais interreliés.
