Le secteur de l’eau potable consomme entre 2 et 3% de l’énergie mondiale. Les réseaux de distribution d’eau potable sont soumis à des débits de fuites, ce qui entraine une surconsommation énergétique. Ces débits de fuite sont directement reliés à la pression au sein des réseaux. Pour cela, des vannes réductrices de pression (PRV) sont installées dans les réseaux, afin de diminuer les piques de pression (>3 bars). Ceci entraine une diminution des débits de fuites, cependant, la perte de charge induite par ces PRV entraine une perte d’énergie. Une solution pour valoriser cette énergie perdue en électricité, tout en diminuant la pression de nos réseaux est le micro-turbinage.
