Boost-derived topologies play a critical role in many applications such as battery charging systems, bidirectional power flow (electric vehicles), and active power factor correction of grid-connected systems. Fast transient behavior is a fundamental performance requirement in power conversion systems. By improving the dynamics of converters, a number of important advantages can be obtained, including reduction of passive components in the system, increase in power density, cost reduction, and enhanced power quality.
