In computing, haptics is the science of applying tactile sensation and force feedback to human interaction with computers. The effect of haptics on human performance in a bimanual task was investigated. Twelve participants performed an asymmetric bimanual two dimensional drawing task in three conditions: with no computer generated force feedback, with force enabled in the left hand only, and with force enabled in the right hand only. Participants showed no significant improvement in performance with force feedback present on either hand compared to no force feedback. Subjectively, most participants preferred the presence of force. This implies that force, though not significantly effective in such tasks, a ffords satisfaction for the user
