Using the waves pattern she created, Patricia included figures created by the Australian fabric artist Mandy Muir as well as commercial fabric from other indigenous people. The turtle is a common indigenous totem, but it has special meaning for Patricia. The top block mas many colors, yet evokes the red rocks of the Australian outback, like Ayers Rock, as well as the fantastic rock formations in northwest Australia. The sun is central both to a dry continent and as the center of the Aboriginal flag.https://digitalcommons.law.umaryland.edu/quilts/1007/thumbnail.jp
