Describes and examines several different models of community-based teaching, learning and service, including: a traditional community economic development clinic, a clinical model rooted in community self-direction, and a law school wide services learning project. We will reflect on our own experiences in attempting to build meaningful and productive relationships with local and national community groups, and on the challenges involved in mediating the relationships among various community, university and political stakeholders.
