Um Alternativen zum Mais (Zea mays) als Co-Substrat für die Biogas-Produktion zu finden, wurden Nutzpflanzen aus der Familie der Brassicaceae auf ihr Biogaspotential untersucht. Von besonderem Interesse waren dabei die Glucosinolate und ihre antimikrobiell wirkenden Spaltprodukte (Isothiocyanate), die charakteristisch für diese Pflanzenfamilie sind. Dazu wurden Feldversuche und Biogas-Versuche mit acht Zwischenfrucht- und fünf Gemüsearten aus der Familie der Brassicaceae durchgeführt. Außerdem wurden Vorkommen und Zusammensetzung der Isothiocyanate (ITC) mittels GC/MS analysiert.
