Migrationen und insbesondere Arbeitsmigrationen nepalesischer Frauen sind in den letzten Jahren immer häufiger in die Schlagzeilen geraten. Um Planungsziele und staatliche Auflagen zur Migration von Frauen zu hinterfragen, war es Ziel der Arbeit, eine vergleichende Studie zum Thema Frauenmigration durchzuführen. Es sollten sowohl gebietsabhängige Unterschiede der Migrationsformen von Frauen als auch kasten- bzw. ethnospezifische Muster herausgearbeitet werden. Die Wahl eines Gender- und Haushaltsstrategienansatzes sollte dabei helfen, den Zusammenhang zwischen sozialer und räumlicher Mobilität der Frauen unterschiedlicher sozialer und ethnischer Herkunft aufzuzeigen.
