This article reviews the development of Roman-Catholic families in the former municipality of Adorp (Groningen) from 1700 onwards. A small community came into existence in the first half of the 18th century comprising several large farmers, but also artisans. This community consisted of migrants from neighbouring villages and of German migrants. After reaching its peak around 1775 with 7 families (5% of the population), many Roman-Catholics impoverished and their number diminished partly due to migration. Consequently, around 1850 no Roman-Catholic family was left in Adorp
