In deze studie staat de vraag centraal of wijze waarop het beleid omtrent gezinsplanning wordt geïmplementeerd geografische verschillen in het gebruik van anticonceptie in Tanzania kan verklaren. Om deze vraag te beantwoorden is documentstudie verricht, zijn interviews gehouden en is de praktijk van zorgverlening geobserveerd. Aan de hand van deze bronnen is het proces van beleidsimplementatie, vanuit het centrale beleid, tot het lokale beleid en uiteindelijk de zorgverlening in de zorgcentra gereconstrueerd. De dataverzameling richtte zich op twee regio’s (Kilimanjaro en Mara), met een hoog respectievelijk laag gebruik van anticonceptie.
