The export growth that contributed significantly to China’s GDP growth has slowed down since the global financial crisis in 2008. Stimulating the effective domestic demand is regarded as a good measure to cope with the weak foreign demand and as an important driving force of China’s future economic growth. Many commentators opine that increases in the demand of 1.3 billion consumers will be key to continued growth of the Chinese economy.
