The abridged Big Five Circumplex (AB5C) model of trait structure: comparisons with Heymans' cube, Kiesler's interpersonal circle, and Peabody and Goldberg's double cone model

The Abridged Big Five Circumplex (AB5C) model represents personality traits by their projections on one of the ten two-dimensional slices (circumplexes) of the space formed by the five broad trait dimensions. In retrospect, HEYMANS' Cube may be viewed as an early example of this kind of model. The AB5C model is pitted against the InterPersonal Circle (KIESLER, 1983) and the Double Cone model (PEABODY and GOLDBERG, 1989), with the aim of investigating whether extreme traits are >. I argue that, on the contrary, extreme behavior is qualitatively different from normal. Finally, some other uses of the AB5C model are briefly touched upon.
