The excitation-energy range 3.5-7.2 MeV in the nucleus Sn-116 has been investigated via the proton stripping reactions In-115(He-3, d)Sn-116, In-115(alpha, t)Sn-116 and In-115(alpha, tgamma)Sn-116. Detailed information is obtained on the distribution of the spectroscopic strength for the different l-transfers. By combining this information with a study of the gamma decay following the (a, t) reaction, important parts of the (nearly) stretched-spin configurations J(pi) = 10-, 9- and J(pi) = 7+ and several J(pi) = 3+ and J(pi) = 5+ states have been identified.
