The total kinetic energy release (TKE) of the fissioning nucleus 232Th is measured as a function of excitation energy and for various mass separations. A direct correlation of the TKE and of the prompt neutron yield excitation functions is observed. The mass yield is presented as function of the total kinetic energy of the fragments. Fine structure in the TKE and in the mass yield distributions is observed in the barrier region. An excitation function for the symmetric mass component of 232Th is presented
