The sesquiterpene lactones form a large group of biologically active plant constituents. In this thesis several aspects of the cytostatic action of sesquiterpene lactones, isolated from Eupatorium cannabinum L. (waterhemp), Asteraceae, are described. Using both in vitro and in vivo test models, structure-activity relationships of some naturally occurring sesquiterpene lactones and semi-synthetic derivatives were studied. Furthermore, the possible mechanism of action of these compounds has been investigated. Eupatoriopicrin, the main sesquiterpene lactone of E. cannabinum, was used as model. compound. ... Zie: Summar
