The updated Dutch national report on conservation and sustainable use of Animal Genetic Resources summarizes the state of national implementation of the Global Plan of Action for Animal Genetic Resources. Seven strategic priority areas have been identified, dealing with remaining or future challenges. At national level conservation strategies will be strengthened to halt the loss of farm animal genetic diversity and to protect our bio-cultural heritage. New technologies will be adopted and further developed for characterization, conservation and breeding purposes. The Netherlands will contribute to the global agenda by generating knowledge and development of improved breeding material for sustainable development of the livestock sector and ...
