Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a neurogenetic disorder affecting approximately one in 2,500 births, and in which nearly half of children experience reading difficulties. One important issue in NF1 relates to the cognitive processes involved in the high prevalence of reading difficulties, as these can significantly impact children's schooling and quality of life. In the literature, a clear consensus is established regarding the contribution of phonological awareness deficits to these difficulties.
