Reduction in dietary vitamin B6 intakes is associated with increased relative risk of diseases such as cancer, atherosclerosis, and cognitive dysfunction. All forms of dietary vitamin B6 are converted to pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP), that is needed for the proper function of a spectrum of metabolic pathways needed to maintain health. To better understand vitamin B6 homeostasis, it is important to identify lifestyle factors that influence vitamin B6 intake and plasma PLP concentration in the UK population.
