International audienceIn 1908, the French daily Le Matin led a major investigation relating to divorce, which remained a subject matter of controversy, even more than twenty years after the law that had restored its place in France in 1884. Journalist Gustave Téry coordinated the project, which took an expected turn when thousands of readers decided to write letters to the editor in order to provide their own feelings on and accounts of life as a couple, marriage, and divorce.
