Removal of heavy minerals from albite of Mugla-Milas district by froth flotation

Feldspar, which is a significant raw material among the other industrial minerals for ceramic and glass industries, has attracted great interest in recent years. In Turkey, feldspar production has increased greatly since last decade. This study is concerned with the beneficiation of Mugla-Milas albit deposits by froth flotation. The representative samples labeled A and B used in the experiments were taken from two different areas. Due to the fact that physical, chemical and grinding performance of samples of A and B districts were similar, samples collected were mixed equally and blended. Samples ground to minus 180-micron size with closed circuit reached liberation point (90%). Na-feldspar sample containing 0.26% TiO2, 0.25% Fe2O3 and 10.4% Na2O was subjected to flotation tests to determine optimum flotation conditions. After flotation, TiO2 grade in the sample was reduced to 0.025% and Fe2O3 grade was decreased to 0.029%
