Lower respiratory tract infections are the most important factors among various causes which trigger wheezing in the first year of life. The factors associated with episodic wheezing in children with acute bronchiolitis are still subjects of research. Infections, environmental factors, immunologic mechanisms are sorted as etiologic risk factors of episodic wheezing. We aimed to investigate the relationship between serum interleukin (IL)-4, IL-13 and gamma-interferon (IFN-gamma) levels and recurrence of wheezing episodes in infants with acute bronchiolitis.
