There has been increasing interest in the development and use of conductive materials in recent years. Paralleling advancements in different scientific disciplines, there has been considerable progress in the textile area in terms of fabrication of smart fibers with special functionality such as electrical conductivity. Metal-based composite yarns and conductive yarns that can be used to develop smart textiles and electrotextiles are being increasingly considered for fabrication of conducting textiles.
