Background/aim: Epidemiological studies indicate that the risk of several types of cancer is high in diabeticpatients. The aim of this study is to evaluate the association between diabetes and diabetes related cancers in a cohortdesign. Materials and methods: The baseline survey was conducted as a community screening programme from2007 to 2009 in a population over 30 years of age. Diabetes definition was based on fasting blood glucose level ≥ 126mg/dl and self-reported diabetes history.
