Genus och jämställdhet bland tibetaner i exil

This work presents the way exiled Tibetans I’ve met view gender and equality. The world is becoming increasingly global and in order to educate future world citizens it is important to make sure that they learn about gender and equality. Males and Females have different cultures and where manly is the norm female is the exception, but it is important to try and level out these differences while children are still in school. This work originates from studies of literature and several interviews with exiled Tibetans in the Indian city of Dharamsala. They are Tibetans with different roles in the exile-Tibetan society and also of different generations and gender. They also have different connections to education. I have done a few observations at a school, among students and their books and I have read reports from the Tibetan Women’s Association. The conclusion is that Tibetans in exile have developed a view of gender and equality that didn’t exist in Tibet. They have also made progress in issues concerning gender and equality. Arbetet handlar om hur de tibetaner som jag mött i exil ser på genus och jämställdhet. Världen blir mer och mer global och för att kunna undervisa framtidens världsmedborgare är det viktigt att se till att de utvecklas mot jämställdhet. Manligt och kvinnligt har olika kulturer där mannen är norm och kvinnan undantaget och det är ett viktigt arbete att kunna verka för en utjämning av detta redan i skolan. Arbetet bygger på litteraturstudier och ett flertal intervjuer med exiltibetaner i den indiska staden Dharamsala. Det är tibetaner med olika roller i det exiltibetanska samhället och de representerar också olika generationer och olika genus. Samtliga har kopplingar till undervisning. Jag har också gjort några observationer på en skola bland elever och böcker samt tagit del av rapporter från Tibetan Women´s Association. Slutsatsen är att de tibetaner jag mött har utvecklat en syn på genus och jämställdhet i exil som inte fanns i Tibet och att de kommit en bit på väg i genus- och jämställdhetsfrågan.
