In this paper, we examine the optimal power allocation of a multicarrier waveform for a dual-function radar-communication system. We derive an information theoretic optimization problem to enhance radar estimation while fulfilling a communication information rate constraint. We use Jensen's inequality to approximate the latter intractable problem. We illustrate the benefits of the proposed method, in terms of conditional mutual information, compared to that based on low and high signal-to-noise ratio approximations. We also demonstrate the trade-off between radar and communication metrics
