The starting point for this analysis was the ethics of care-approach (Gilligan&noddings) used by certain feminist authors, who claimed female victims of the holocaust showed more solidarity amongst each other in concentration camps then men did. They base their statement on the existence of so-called 'camp-families' in which 4 women would share their scarce resources. We check whether there is actual historical proof of these camp-families and other genderbased differences in behavior and experiences amongst female victims and perpetrators in Nazi-germany. The assumptions underlying this solidarity-thesis are revealed, as well of the lack of attention paid to female perpetrators
