The theme of this issue of Children in Europe, a magazine that is published in 14 languages, 15 european countries is professioanalization of the early years sector.There is a growing consensus in Europe to up-grade the professionalism of the early years workers, but there is no consensus among the Member States of the European Union on the kind of professionalism that is needed. In this themed issue, ‘Children in Europe’ would like to provide an impetus for a thorough reflection on the interpretation of professionalism in the professions in Early Childhood Education and Care
