Studies in tropical African Lactarius species, 5 : a synopsis of the subgenus Lactifluus (Burl.) Hesler & A.H. Sm. emend.

An emendation of the subgenus Lactifluus (Burl.) Hesler & A.H. Sm. is proposed, based on studies from 23 African species which are classified in the sections Rugati (Pacioni & Lalli) Verbeken stat. nov., Gymnocarpi R. Helm ex Verbeken sect. nov., Pseudogymnocarpi Verbeken sect. nov., Phlebonemi R. Helm ex Verbeken sect. nov. and Rubroviolascentes (Singer) Verbeken stat. nov. The temperate sections Albati(Bat.) Singer, Allardii Hesler & A.H. Sm. and Piperati Fr. emend. Hesler & A.H. Sm. are excluded from the subgenus. A key to the species of each section is given, as well as a check-list of the African representatives of this subgenus
